The Lokayukta officers on Saturday arrested a head constable and his junior colleague whereas they had been accepting a bribe from a person for an official favour.
The accused, Rajkumar and Mahadev, hooked up to the Mandya Metropolis site visitors police station, had demanded ₹8,000 from Sayyad Sadath, to launch his automobile which had been seized in an accident case. The accused, after negotiations, agreed to scale back the quantity to ₹3,000. Unable to pay the bribe, Sadath filed a grievance with the Lokayukta officers who laid a lure and arrested the accused whereas accepting the bribe.
The duo was booked underneath the Prevention of Corruption Act and brought into custody.
