Elections 2024 Part 2 Voting: The primary section of the Lok Sabha elections noticed a 65% turnout

Voting for 88 constituencies within the second section of the 18th Lok Sabha elections throughout 13 states and union territories has begun. Over 1,200 candidates, together with 4 candidates from Outer Manipur, are contesting the polls.

All 20 seats in Kerala, 14 of the 28 seats in Karnataka, 13 seats in Rajasthan, 8 seats every in Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh, 7 seats in Madhya Pradesh, 5 seats every in Assam and Bihar, 3 seats every in Chhattisgarh and West Bengal, and 1 seat every in Manipur, Tripura and Jammu and Kashmir will go to polls tomorrow.

The distinguished contestants within the fray for the second section are Union minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar, BJP’s Tejasvi Surya, Hema Malini and Arun Govil, Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Shashi Tharoor, Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar’s brother DK Suresh and former Karnataka chief minister HD Kumaraswamy.

In 2019, the NDA had received 56 of the 89 seats and the UPA 24. Six of those seats have been redrawn as a part of the delimitation train.

Out of the seven phases, the primary section of the elections had been held final Friday for 102 seats throughout 21 states and Union territories. The polls noticed a voter turnout of round 65.5%.

Round 2.8 crore voters will resolve the destiny of 152 candidates within the fray for the second section of the Lok Sabha elections which shall be held on 13 seats in Rajasthan on Friday, mentioned Chief Electoral Officer Praveen Gupta on Thursday.
