Govt says committee on MSP held 37 conferences, workshops thus far

The committee on minimal help worth (MSP) headed by former agriculture secretary Sanjay Agrawal has held 37 conferences and workshops thus far, Agriculture Minister Arjun Munda mentioned on Tuesday in Lok Sabha.

The committee was established in July 2022, eight months after the federal government promised to arrange such a panel whereas withdrawing the three contentious farm legal guidelines.

“Until date, thirty-seven conferences/workshops have been held by the committee,” Mr. Munda mentioned in his written reply to the Lok Sabha.

The committee is to make recommendations in order to make MSP simpler and clear; to advertise pure farming; and to alter crop sample retaining in thoughts the altering wants of the nation, he mentioned.

The conferences of the committee are being held frequently actively to deliberate on the topic issues assigned to it, he added.

The minister was responding to a question on whether or not the Samyukt Kisan Morcha and 18 different farmers’ unions have organized a ‘Mahapanchayat’ and staged protests demanding the enactment of a legislation guaranteeing MSP for crops and implementation of the Swaminathan Fee report.
