Members of the Belagavi District Youngster Safety Committee and Belagavi Metropolis Police have rescued a 20-month-old child lady stated to have been bought by her mother and father to a household from Goa.
The child was rescued because the lady was dropped at Belagavi after her organic mother and father Rajendra Metri and his spouse Shilpa Metri from Sangli, Maharashtra, bought their daughter to Smitha Wadikar from Goa.
The deal was mediated by Vandana Surave from Belagavi, Ravi Raut and Rani Raut from Maharashtra.
The incident occurred a number of days in the past. Youngster Safety Committee members acted on a tip-off and rescued the kid with help from the Belagavi Metropolis Police, police sources stated.
All these concerned within the transaction have been named as accused within the case.
The switch occurred in a non-public resort in Joida of Uttara Kannada. Belagavi Police have registered a case and transferred it to Uttara Kannada.
In the meantime, officers suspected it to be an offence involving accused from three States. The help of police from neighbouring States might be wanted due clearances from the headquarters, a senior officer stated.
A crew from Belagavi Police Commissionerate visited Uttara Kannada on Thursday, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Belagavi, S.Okay. Satyanayak stated.
“Particular groups from the 2 districts are coordinating within the investigation of the case. They may confirm if this can be a single transaction or it is part of a baby sale racket,” he added.
