AICTE to control technical establishments providing BBA, BMS and BCA programs


Intending to keep up uniform high quality and tutorial requirements throughout Administration and Laptop Software programmes, the All India Council for Technical Training (AICTE) has determined to control technical establishments providing BBA, BMS, and BCA programs from 2024-25. Until now, AICTE was regulating solely postgraduate programs like MBA and MCA.

College Grant Fee (UGC) has knowledgeable all the general public universities to speak this to all its affiliated establishments that are providing or intend to supply programs in BBA, BMS and BCA for compliance.

Technical training and its associated points are managed and ruled by the AICTE Act of 1987. In accordance with this Act, technical training, analysis, coaching in engineering know-how, structure, city planning, administration, pharmacy, utilized arts and crafts programs are regulated by the council.

Talking to The Hindu, S. Vidyashankar, Vice Chancellor of VTU stated, “We’re conscious of the AICTE and UGC circulars on this regard, and if the State authorities has determined on this regard, our college will henceforth regulate technical establishment that provide BBA, BMS and BCA.”

Principal’s affiliation opposes

Nevertheless, Bengaluru Metropolis College Principal’s Affiliation has opposed the AICTE choice on this regard and has urged for withdrawal of the notification. It has additionally submitted a proposal to the Vice Chairman of Karnataka Larger Training Council for State authorities’s intervention.

“BBA and BCA are normal programs accessible to many college students as it’s cost-effective compared with AICTE-affiliated schools,” the affiliation stated, demanding that they be retained underneath the ambit of normal UG schools. Many Arts and Science schools are providing these programs for nominal charges and are surviving as a consequence of increased enrolment for programs like BBA, BCA, and Commerce programs.
